Wide Spectrum of Beer Distribution Industry Members to Participate in NBWA 2011 Legislative ConferenceMarch 14, 2011
ALEXANDRIA, VA – Hundreds of America’s beer distributors and others from the beer industry, including representatives of suppliers and licensed retailers, will join in Washington, D.C., for the 2011 Legislative Conference March 27-30. The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.
The four-day long Conference will be filled with opportunities for distributors to delve deep into current issues that impact the beer distribution industry, the three-tier system of alcohol distribution and the future of state-based alcohol regulation.
“With more than 100 new members of Congress this year, the NBWA 2011 Legislative Conference is a very important time for distributors to educate them on today’s effective system of beer distribution – a system that promotes competition and supports effective state-based alcohol regulation,” said NBWA President Craig Purser. “The Conference also provides a great forum for distributors to hear from the Association leadership and to engage in a robust dialogue with other distributors from around the country.”
In 2010, NBWA’s Legislative Conference saw impressive distributor participation and was a terrific opportunity for members of Congress to hear firsthand from beer distributors about a wide variety of issues. This year will be even more exciting as distributors will be educating policymakers and staff about the nearly 100,000 quality jobs provided by the American beer distribution industry.
Scheduled events include:
· How to be a Beer Distributor Advocate Seminar
· “Inside the 112th Congress” Panel
· Legislative Briefing
· Remarks by Charlie Papazian, President of the Brewers Association
· Brewers Association Reception featuring beer produced by some of America’s 1,700 breweries
· “Hops and Hoops” Welcome Reception featuring a sampling of the 13,000 labels of beer sold in the U.S.
