Bartending with gaz and SF Cocktail Week Changes

August 24, 2010 By: Jack Robertiello

Our pal gaz regan, who misses me only when others haven’t been covering his tab, would like you to know he’s thinking of someday soon holding weekend bar classes in New York City, focusing on bar philosophy, intuitive mixology and the real meaning of being a bartender. Let him tell you: “I'm guessing that, with a little help from the industry, I'd be able to offer two, three-hour classes, to be held over a weekend (Saturday and Sunday afternoons) for about $250. Bartenders would have to get themselves to the venue (yet to be determined, but definitely in Manhattan or Brooklyn), and if you're traveling from out of town you'll have to make all your own travel and accommodation plans.” Real Bartender Certification will be offered to graduates. Gaz asks for interested bartenders to write for more info at gary@ardentspirits.com.

San Francisco Cocktail WeekThe Barbary Coast Conservancy of the American Cocktail has announced Sept. 20 - 27 as the dates for the Fourth Annual San Francisco Cocktail Week Celebration. They say big changes are underway. “Stay tuned for information about the Liquid Relations Center, a community focused hub for all things beverage related, currently being designed by the BCCAC. “Hard Hat Happy Hours” will be happening soon, and we’ll be announcing how you can become a supporting member of the Barbary Coast Conservancy of the American Cocktail, so make sure to sign up for our mailing list, if you haven’t already.” The Barbary Coast Conservancy of the American Cocktail, proud presenter of San Francisco Cocktail Week, was founded in order to preserve the Cultural Heritage of saloons and their cocktails in San Francisco, while also celebrating California’s culinary philosophy and tradition via special events, publications, and educational seminars.
