Whiskey The “Water of Life”

The word whiskey is derived from the Gaelic word “Uisge Beatha” which means “water of life”. That “water” flows freely here in the states.

Originally, when Whiskey first became popular it was consumed mainly by men; however those days are long gone. There is a huge opportunity with whiskey in the female market. What can we say? Everyone loves the smoky, rich and delicate tastes of whiskey; so try some of these delicious cocktails at your bar!

¾ oz. Irish Mist Whiskey
¾ oz. Irish Mist Liqueur
Orange Peel

Build ingredients over ice in an old fashioned glass. Garnish with an orange peel.

Peach Pot

2 oz. Wild Turkey Spiced
1 oz. Canned Peach Syrup
1 oz. Sugar
1 oz. Lemon Juice
Grate of Cinnamon
1 oz. Water
½ oz. All Spice Dram
1 oz. Heavy Cream 

Shake Wild Turkey Spiced, peach syrup, sugar, lemon juice, and water with no ice and heat until warm. Do not boil. Whip a small splash All Spice dram into heavy cream. Whip until almost thick. Shake cold. Spoon whipped cream on top
of hot drink and dust with grated cinnamon.

Kahlua Pumpkin Whiskey Cocktail

1 fluid ounce Kahlua Pumpkin Spice
1 1/2 fluid ounces Jameson Irish Whiskey

Place a large ice cube in an old-fashioned glass. Add Kahlua Pumpkin Spice and Jameson Irish Whiskey. Stir and serve.

Kahlua Pumpkin Whiskey Cocktail

1/2 oz. Bottle Russell Reserve 6 Year Old Rye
2 1/2 oz. Super Fine Sugar
8 oz. Lemon juice
4 1/2 oz. Small Hand Foods Grenadine
4 Dashes Angostura bitters
Sparkling Wine

Combine all ingredients together and top with sparkling wine or Champagne.

Whiskey Punch

2 oz. Wild Turkey 101
3/4 oz. Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice
8-10 Mint Leaves
1/2 oz. Oleo-Sacchrum*
2 Dashes Angostura Bitters

Add all ingredients to mixing tin with ice. Shake vigorously and strain over fresh ice. Garnish with mint sprig.

Whiskey Smash

Will-o-The Wisp

1 ½ oz. Auchentoshan Three Wood
1 ½ oz. Earl Grey Tea
½ oz. Martinelli’s Apple Cider
¼ oz. Lemongrass Syrup
3 dashes Creole Bitters
3 Thin apple slices (soak in Whisky, bitters & lemon juice)
Lemongrass blade
Soda water

Combine all liquid ingredients, including lemongrass blade and shake vigorously with ice. Pour over fresh ice in high ball glass and garnish with apples slices.

Will O Wisp

Honeysuckle Sour

1½ oz. DEWAR’S Highlander Honey
½ oz. Cointreau
½ oz. fresh-squeezed lemon juice
½ oz. fresh-squeezed orange juice
1 bar spoon sugar

Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled 5 oz. cocktail glass. Garnish with orange zest.

honeysuckle sour

2 oz. Irish Mist Whiskey
1 oz. Sweet Vermouth
2 Dashes Orange Bitters

Pour all ingredients into a glass with ice and stir until well chilled. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with an orange or lemon peel.
