Embracing Mexican Heritage on Cinco de Mayo

The ever popular Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner and what better way to celebrate this holiday than by embracing the Mexican heritage! When one thinks of Mexican celebrations, what comes to mind? ...Tequila! We are sharing some of our favorite margarita and festive Mexican drink recipes to help you serve your patrons the right way.

Hornitos Drinko de Cinco
Created by Hornitos Tequila

Ingredients:
2 parts Hornitos Plata Tequila
3⁄4 part Lime Juice
1⁄2 part Agave Nectar
Muddle in 3 slices of Jalapeño and Oregano

Method: Pour ingredients into a shaker, shake and double strain into a shot glass. This recipe makes two shots.

 


Honey Ginger Sauza-Rita

Ingredients:
1 12 oz. can frozen Lemonade
1 12 oz. bottle of Ginger Beer
12 oz. Sauza Blue 100% Agave Silver Tequila
1 can of water
3 tbsp. honey
2 tbsp. Salt

Method: Combine lemonade, ginger beer, Sauza Tequila, water and 1 tablespoon of honey in a pitcher filled with ice. Stir well to combine. Rim your cocktail glasses by dipping in remaining 2 tablespoons of honey and then running them through a plate of salt. Serve over ice with a lemon wheel. Serves nine.


Once Upon a Time in MexicoOnce Upon a Time

Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz. Vida Mezcal
1/2 oz. White Creme de Cacao
1/4 oz. Lime Juice
3 Dashes Regans Orange Bitters
Yellow Chartreuse Rinse

Method: Add all ingredients except yellow chartreuse to a cocktail shaker,
 shake and fine strain into a cocktail glass with a yellow chartreuse rinse. Garnish with lemon zest.


Mezcal & MayhemMezcal Mayhem

Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz. Del Maguey Chichicapa Mezcal
3/4 oz. Campari
3/4 oz. Mayhaw Syrup*
5 oz. Vicaris Tripel-Geuze or other Belgian tripel-style beer

Method: Add the mezcal, Campari and Mayhaw Syrup to a shaker and fill with ice. Shake, and strain into a pint or highball glass half-filled with fresh ice. Top with the beer and garnish with an orange wheel.


Hornitos Pomegranate Paloma

Ingredients:
2 parts Hornitos Plata Tequila o 1⁄2 part Lime Juice
1⁄2 part Pomegranate Juice
1⁄2 part Grapefruit Juice
1⁄2 part Agave Nectar
Soda Water

Method: Pour all ingredients, except soda water, into a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a pilsner glass filled with ice. Top with soda and garnish with a mint sprig.


Classic MezcalritaClassic Mezcalrita

Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz. Scorpion Mezcal Silver
1 oz. Cointreau
1 oz. Fresh lime juice

Method: Rim Margarita glass with Salt.
 Mix ingredients in shaker with ice, strain into salt-rimmed Margarita glass.
 


Spirit of MexicoSpirit of Mexico

Ingredients:
2 oz. Passion fruit juice
1 oz. Pineapple juice
1 1/2 oz. Scorpion Mezcal Silver

Method: Shake all ingredients and strain into a martini glass.
 

 


Hornitos Toro Margaritatoro

Ingredients:
2 parts Hornitos Plata Tequila
3⁄4 part John DeKuyper & SonsTM O3 Premium Orange Liqueur o 1⁄2 part Lemon Juice
1⁄2 part Pineapple Juice
2 Pieces of Sage

Method: Pour ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a rocks glass with ice and garnish with the sage leaves.

2 oz of Esplon Silver
1 oz fresh lime
1 oz black pepper infused simple syrup
spoonful of purated strawberries
2 dashes of orange bitters
