B & Co. Targets the Working Professional and Shopaholic in its new midtown Manhattan home
Midtown Manhattan continues to become a hub for office buildings with a variety of businesses. From financial services to law firms, ad agencies to banks, and medical offices, the area is swarming with working professionals with plenty of disposable income. It’s no wonder why the retail market thrives, serving as a lunch hour shopping mecca. Restaurants and bars are catching on too, as a slew of new spots are popping up frequently. One of the latest to open, B & Co. hopes the area will become as popular for after-work cocktails as it has for break-time shopping sprees.
Nightclub & Bar (NCB): What about the location appealed to B & Co. and why did you chose this neighborhood?
B & Co.: The Upper East Side is appealing as we already have a close relationship with residents and clients. B & Co. is in the heart of uptown's most chic shopping area nestled by Bergdorf Goodman and situated across from FAO Schwartz. It can also please any palate; whether looking for a bite to eat or a place to relax with a cocktail. And that's what we are hoping – to attract those shoppers and business professional in the area.
NCB: Who's your target audience?
B & Co.: The Club at B & Co. is targeted for the business professional. We would love for all the neighboring businesses in the area to make B & Co. their destination after work.
NCB: How important is your cocktail menu? What are you offering that's unique/inviting?
B & Co.: The cocktail menu was crafted to compliment the menu. We are offering an inviting atmosphere, unique cocktails such as the B & Co. Aperol (lemon juice, roses, aperol, & orange juice) and Burgio Special (Pomegranate syrup, lime, sugar, and ginger beer), along with a complementary menu of warm sandwiches and small plates perfect to snack on after work.
NCB: Describe the other aspects/logistics of the club (i.e. kitchen, sound, music, lighting, ambiance, decor, etc.)
B & Co.: The design of B & Co. is inspired by modern yacht aesthetic, Gio Ponti’s lines, and the metaphor of a crystal with its faceted geometry and unexpected reflections. Interpreting Owner Max Burgio’s vision, Marchello Pozzi found further allure in the exuberance of ‘50s Italian design with its rediscovery of colors, and he composed the venue with the fearless juxtaposition of rich materials such as marble, bleached walnut wood paneling, mother of pearl, bronze hardware and inlays, glossy mahogany tables, textured silk for accent surfaces and light fixtures.
Colorful silk light fixtures are used throughout the building (restaurant, club and privée) as surreal characters animating the spaces. Particularly in the club, folded mirrors wrapping walls and ceilings make them multiply and float like magical lanterns.
NCB: What are your expectations for the winter and aspirations for 2014?
B & Co.: We would love for all the neighboring businesses in the area to make B & Co. their destination after work. We expect to have a packed house of regulars by 2014!
