It’s National Kahlua Day! And this popular, creamy Mexican liqueur has been enjoyed for decades.
It was originally created back in 1936 and was quite labor intensive. It’s made from 100 percent Arabica coffee beans grown in Mexico and sugarcane. After seven years, the mixture is combined with caramel and vanilla, and then allowed to rest for eight weeks before bottled.
People enjoy it straight up, on the rocks, and mixed in coffee or cocktails. Kahlua is also used to flavor desserts such as ice cream, cakes, and cheesecakes. If your guests are craving something rich, creamy and all together decadent then I suggest offering up an Espresso Martini, one of the more popular female friendly Kahlua based drinks today.
1.5 parts KAHLÚA
1 part ABSOLUT VODKA
1 fresh brewed espresso
Fill a shaker with ice, add Kahlúa, ABSOLUT VODKA and a fresh brewed espresso. Shake vigorously, and strain into a chilled martini glass.
