New York Eateries Celebrate Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and NYC restaurants have created special menus to help both locals and visitors celebrate the holiday in style—without having to cook for the entire family. Combining seasonal ingredients with the personality and unique style that the chefs are known for, these menu options ensure that no one will leave hungry come November 22nd at some of the best restaurants in Manhattan—David Burke Kitchen at The James NY, TOY restaurant and Haven at The Sanctuary Hotel.

 

Those looking for a more exotic Thanksgiving feast can head to TOY at The Gansevoort NYC Meatpacking Hotel where Executive Chef Doron Wong is offering a number of special seasonal items in addition to the restaurant’s extensive a la carte menu.  Break out of the traditional Thanksgiving meal and give it an eclectic Asian twist this year! Start with the Double Boiled Butternut Squash Consomme with guaniale and young ginger and then choose from Roasted Turkey with Chinese sausage and chestnut stuffing, orange cranberry sauce and charred brussel sprouts or Moo Shu Turkey with roasted chestnuts, quail egg, cranberry hosein sauce, served with moo shu pancakes and lettuce wraps. Top off the meal with spiced pumpkin bread with citrus cranberries and ginger ice cream.

Chef Burke of David Burke Kitchen puts his whimsical touch on a menu full of traditional Thanksgiving dishes and Kitchen favorites with a $65 prix fixe menu. Starters include Scallop & Butternut Chowder and Duck Meatball Lasagna while for mains, the restaurant is featuring Roasted Organic Turkey with black pepper cranberry, vanilla bean sweet potato puree, sausage chestnut stuffing and giblet gravy; Crackling Pork Shank with poppy seed sauerkraut and fire-cracker apple sauce  and Prime Beef Short Rib Cavatelli with wild mushrooms and truffle cream.  Guests should be sure to save room for dessert which includes Top Chef Star & Executive Pastry Chef Zac Young’s Pie-a-Palooza: Roasted Pumpkin with Toasted Marshmallow, Mitsu Apple with Cheddar Crust, Cranberry Orange and Deep Fried Chocolate Bourbon Pecan.

The exclusive Haven rooftop at The Sanctuary Hotel is an enclosed rooftop restaurant and lounge. It will be offering a $45 prix fixe menu on Thanksgiving Day for diners who want to enjoy a full meal and handcrafted cocktails for the evening. Guests will also be doing good deed while enjoying their dinner, as a portion of proceeds will go to the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
