Making The Most Out of The Emmy Awards

August 26, 2010 By: Alissa Ponchione

As an avid watcher/lover of television, there is nothing that gets me going like the kickoff to fall TV season — The Emmy Awards. They may not have the gravitas as The Oscars, but they’re more fun and informal than their stuffy award show brethren. In fact, hosting an Emmy party at your establishment can bring in new clientele — those who enjoy making snarky comments about celebrity fashion and faux pas — as well as those drifting aimlessly waiting for college football to start or pre-season NFL football to end. And if you’re TVs aren’t being used, you might as well be watching the red carpet (if only to see the typical Ryan Seacrest gaffe) while offering up some innovative drinks inspired by your favorite characters and shows. Certainly Don Draper wouldn’t want to watch anything without a glass of rye in his hand nor would the “True Blood” vampires be caught without the True Blood human blood alternative warming their cold mostly dead bodies. I, for one, will have my Dharma Initiative beer chilled and in hand with the hopes of seeing “Lost” receive some Emmy love. Do you have any Emmy promotions going on at your bar or nightclub? If not, you should. Here are some inspired recipes to get you going.
