It's National Margarita Day!

February 22, 2013 By: Kristen Santoro

The Margarita still reigns supreme as the most popular mixed drink nationwide and today we celebrate its popularity with National Margarita Day! This sacred tequila, triple sec and lime drink, often served with salt on the rims, has developed over the years showcasing popular flavors that include strawberry, mango, watermelon, pomegranate and raspberry.

There is still much debate as to the exact individual responsible for inventing the classic margarita, (as discussed in the article The Search for La Senorita Margarita) although it was during the 1930’s or 1940’s.  Frozen margaritas were later invented by a bartender who converted a soft serve ice cream unit into a frozen margarita machine.

Despite the sluggish economy, many US consumers seek a more sophisticated experience when eating out and when ordering adult beverages. Therefore, make sure not to skimp on the thought and care that you put into creating the ultimate crowd-pleaser. Take El Cid in Silver Lake for example.

They will be launching their new craft cocktail menu created by General Manager and Mixologist Laura Ann Masura. The menu will feature new margaritas such as Smokey & Spicy Raspberry Margarita, Smooth Peacharita, Sangarita, Lady Marma-rita and the Strawberry Vanilla Bean Margarita.

Get people in your bar and thinking about spring by offering up a tasty Margarita today.
