Don’t Underestimate The Power Of Yelp Mobile

Yelp is an extremely useful tool that nightclub and bar owners need to take into consideration. Yelp is a tool to help people find great local businesses; and obviously, you want them to find you.

As a bar or nightclub owner, if you aren’t tapping into Yelp’s mobile audience, you could be missing a great opportunity to get more customers through your doors. When Yelp users are looking to find the hottest dance party in town or discover a new cocktail bar, it’s highly likely that a mobile device will aid in the search. According to ComScore, as of March 2013, 41% of Yelp’s mobile audience had visited a bar or nightclub in the preceding 6 months, and 60% had consumed alcohol in the preceding 30 days. But wait, there’s more -- in Q1 of this year, a call was generated or GPS directions were mapped out to a local business every second through the Yelp mobile app.

With all of this in mind, check out these quick tips to ensure that you’re reaching mobile Yelpers.

Make sure your hours are correct: according to Nielsen, 68% of smartphone users search when they are on the go. The Yelp app tells patrons when you’re open or closed based on the hours of operation you list in your business account. Double check that your business hours are up to date so you don’t miss out on potential customers.

Post a check-in offer: When Yelpers “check-in” to a business using their mobile device, they can let their friends on Yelp, Facebook, and Twitter see what business they’re at. In other words, a check-in offer has the potential to help you attract more mobile customers and promote your business across multiple social media platforms at the same time.

Add photos: Did you know the first photo that appears in your Business Account acts as the backdrop image on your mobile Yelp listing? Consumers like to get a visual of what your business has to offer and tend to stay on your business listing longer as a result. Upload a handful of photos if you haven’t already.
