On Oct. 29, 2011, the W Scottsdale became home to evil spirits and black magic as they hosted their “Voodoo” Halloween party at the lavish Shade Lounge. Guests were greeted at the event by a cobweb filled staircase, complete with cryptic symbols on wooden signs painted in blood, shrunken heads and flickering candles intertwined in moss to light the way. Upon ascending the staircase to the upper deck, dark and twisted décor consisting of hanging skeletons and potion bottles gave the dimly lit party an eerie feel.
One of the centerpieces of the ghoulish event was perched in the center of the WET pool, where a giant skull and moss-covered chandelier hung above a candle lit chalk ritual pentagram.
Attendees also were treated to complimentary photos with a giant life-size Voodoo doll, and a palm reader placed inside a room of giant potion bottles and creatures from the dark that told them what their future may hold.
For the entertainment of the evening, Steve LeVine Entertainment & Public Relations brought in national recording artist Kelley James, who just came off a 31-city tour with O.A.R. and has shared the stage with the likes of Sara Bareilles, T-Pain, LMFAO and Slightly Stoopid. Scottsdale’s own DJ Soulman filled the space in-between with a mixture of house music, hip-hop and Top 40s.
