Sherlock’s Is Home To Flair

ImageSherlock’s Pubs, located in Houston, San Antonio, Humble, Addison and Austin, Texas, are hosting the qualifying rounds of the world’s largest bartending competition. Legends of Bartending began January 8 and continues through February 19. Bartenders from Texas and surrounding states are mixing it up in order to win $6,000 and the opportunity to advance to the world finals of the Legends of Bartending competition, to be held February 25-28 at Club 3121 inside the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The contest is about flair bartending. Edgar Carlson, principal of Hospitality USA, which manages the Sherlock’s concept, says, “Flair bartending has become a part of our culture and we’re excited to once again be invited to participate in the Legends of the Bartending competition.” Contest rules state that a bartender must demonstrate speed, accuracy and showmanship. Legends was started eight years ago by a couple of veteran bartenders who felt passionately about flair bartending. Since its inception, the contest has hosted participants from more than 20 countries. In its first four years, Legends made it to national television four times. Most recently it was featured on The Travel Channel’s “Battle of the Bartenders, Las Vegas.”
