Editor's Note
Ideas for the Future

Opening doors — definitely a fitting term for the purpose of this issue’sImage Editor’s Note. Most of us in the nightclub and bar business equate that opening up time with the sensation of anticipation, of money about to be made and good times about to be had. But, there’s another meaning to the term that I’m thinking of at the moment, one that transcends the former.
We’re all in the industry to succeed, and although that entails a lot of competition, we are our own best allies. As we network, observe, compare — sometimes emulate and imitate — we’re still all making nightclub and bar environments better for guests, and that’s the real point.
Beyond quick profit, we perpetuate a cycle of fun and fidelity, and largely we do that by opening doors. We share ideas, and we inspire.
There is one final aspect of the term that I want to impart here, too, though. After five-plus years with Nightclub & Bar, I’m taking a leave of absence now to spend time with family and old friends in Nashville, Tenn., and while I’ll still be involved with the magazine (it’s too hard to say goodbye), I’m also pursuing new opportunities in and related to the industry. So, with all this being said, my door here is always open, and so it will be with the magazine’s next editor, VP-Publishing Tad Wilkes, whom many of you know.
I wish you all the very best.
