Light-Up Gadgets That amke Your Profits Shine Brightly

At many trendy bars and clubs across the country, when the lights go down, the fun shines even brighter. And no wonder –– with about every conceivable piece of barware, glassware or serving piece now available in light-up and glow-in-the dark varieties, bars can light up the night with everything from glow-in-the-dark ice buckets to light-up olive picks.Image
Nothing says party like the neon colored light-up or glow-in-the-dark mugs, cups, glasses, trays, straws, and swizzle sticks unless it’s items that can be worn by the customers themselves. Bracelets, necklaces, badges, glasses, and even light-up candy put patrons in a party mood with their bright — sometimes flashing — colors.
“The light-up products are absolutely amazing,” says Terry DelMonaco, president of Future Affair Productions, a company that stages events for clubs across the country. “They’re a ton of fun, and people instantly just feel good. I cannot begin to tell you what it brings to an event.”

Points of Light
Just serving drinks on a light-up tray captures attention, of course, but to really get customers to join in the fun, your staff can wear some of the glow and light-up accessories, as well as give them away as prizes in simple and fun promotions or trivia games that can get the crowd involved in interaction with each other and the staff.
Although some of the larger items, such as trays and ice buckets, may cost a bit, almost any club’s budgets can handle a couple hundred light-up olive picks or glow-in-the-dark bracelets.

A little bit of flair goes a long way,  DelMoncaco says. Using a party theme involving inexpensive light-up products can instantly lift your club’s ambiance to another level. Themes become the glue that ties a club’s event together. It is the cohesive ingredient that allows branding opportunities to succeed and the personalities of your venue to come through, she says.
Using a theme writes a story that represents the flights that your guests will experience from the moment they walk into your club until they leave, and with imaginative use of light-up and  glow-in-the-dark items to create a specific theme or fantasy, you can be sure your customer will come back for more.
“It’s contemporary. It’s very retro, which is very fashionable, both here in the states and globally,” DelMonaco says. “People come in and you’ve given them permission to be sophisticated, yet to let their hair down and have a good time.” NCB
