'The Show' Hits Atlantic City
30 AC Seminars Raise the Bar on the F & B House that Education Built

By Michael Harrelson
The Nightclub & Bar Convention & Trade Show — which built its
reputation on a solid foundation of educational, moneymaking seminars
and workshops over two decades in Las Vegas to become the biggest expo
of its kind in the Western Hemisphere — is set to raise that proud
tradition in an all-new, East-Coast setting when “The Show” comes to
Atlantic City (AC 2005) Oct. 10-12.
Plentiful Full-Program Sessions
For savvy operators who know the inherent value of comparing notes with
their peers, boning up on specific, targeted areas of the bar business
and getting in tune with the superstars of the industry with the proven
know-how to help them reach the next level of success, “The Show’s”
Full-Program educational component long has represented an opportunity
to get the upper hand over the competition in two jam-packed days of
intense entrepreneurial effort.
And with more than 30 seminars and workshops on tap for the launch of
this second national beverage and food trade show at the Trump Taj
Mahal, AC 2005’s Full Program is certainly no exception — offering
owners, operators, food and beverage managers and other hospitality
professionals all they need to know to streamline operations, keep
patrons safe, stay ahead of emerging trends and put more promotional
and marketing “Ump” into the front and the back of their houses back
home.
Led by such crowd pleasers as Jon Taffer, CEO of Taffer Dynamics, Music
Man Wyatt Magnum, president of Houston-based CMS/MMG, Thom Greco,
president of Greco Holdings, and bar and club security expert Robert
Smith, Atlantic City’s Full Program roster of expert speakers includes
many who have honed their chops at “The Show” in Las Vegas. But whether
they bring Las Vegas experience to Atlantic City or not, all offer
attendees the down-to-earth, practical knowledge that can be gleaned
only from their collective, insider experience in the beverage, food
and hospitality field.
From popular show favorites such as “Promo Idea Xchange,” which affords
operators the opportunity to swap profitable and exciting promotional
ideas, to sessions such as The Price is Right or Is It, which gets down
to the nitty-gritty of price structuring in venues, and other seminars
exploring club start-up strategies and the do’s and don’ts of
successful interviewing, Atlantic City’s Full Program runs the gamut of
on-premise, hospitality-related business topics.
And Much More
Other seminars, such as “Waterfront Obstacles and Opportunities” and
“East By Northeast: Trade Secrets from Industry Operators”, look at bar
and club operations from the unique perspective of East Coast venues
and operators. Along with its added focus on key market segments
through such topics as the GLBT Forum and emerging subject trends such
as “How Safe Are You”, “The Show’s” Full Program is designed to be
inclusive of the needs and wants of the full range of owner/operators.
As a bonus, attendees who sign up for Full Program at the Atlantic City
Show are invited to hear keynote addresses by Bar and Restaurant
Entrepreneur Phillip J. Romano, the only restaurant innovator whose
concepts have generated more than $10 billion in sales, and Mark A.
Brown, the affable executive handpicked by Donald J. Trump to be
president and chief executive officer of his Trump Hotels and Casinos,
at no extra charge. NCB
