A Golden Opportunity Grows
‘The Show’ and Atlantic City Shine In the Not-so-Far East
By Tad Wilkes
The Nightclub & Bar Beverage and Food Convention & Trade Show at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, October 9-11, is shaping up to take the East Coast experience of “The Show” to another level.
As last month’s issue discussed, keynote addresses are replaced this year with two fantastic Super Sessions, bringing panels of top operators together for intensified learning. But, there’s a lot more to see in AC, with more being added to “The Show” as the months grow closer to October.
Industry Innovations
Educational sessions kick off on Tuesday, October 10. Among the new additions to the offerings will be the Industry Innovations forum, which will provide attendees with the current and upcoming innovations that will effect business in the industry.
Topics discussed will range from training to mixology to operations, with a unique panel made up of a blend of suppliers, distributors and owner/operators. Among them will be Tommy D’Arcangelo, operational manager of Casbah; Ted McAleer, director of national accounts with Sidney Frank Importing Co. Inc.; and Jonathan Spadafora, director of operations at Borgata.
Parties and Profit
The famous nightly networking events of “The Show” are back and better than ever. Among the events on tap are soirees at top nightlife venues, including Mur.Mur, sponsored by Fedway & Associates; Mixx, sponsored by Sidney Frank Importing; and Cuba Libre, with drink specials by Bacardi.

Plans are underway for a DJ spin-off hosted by Promo Only and Allied Beverage which will be held at the legendary Casbah.
Exhibit Hall Expands
The exhibit hall will be expanded to accommodate the expected growth of this year’s show, with exciting special areas and features.
More to See in AC
The rebirth of Atlantic City continues. Borgata was the first new property to open in 13 years and has become a major attraction. It is opening its new club, Mur.Mur, this summer (see above information about the party slated there during “The Show”).
Also, Caesars Palace is adding a development called The Pier, a $175 million luxury retail, dining and entertainment complex, that will be open this summer.
“Atlantic City’s rebirth and ongoing addition of shopping, restaurants and nightlife provide the perfect atmosphere on the East Coast for ‘The Show,’” says Jennifer Robinson, C.O.O. of Oxford Publishing Inc., producer of “The Show.”
Helping Industry Sons
The spirits industry will gather at the Sky Ranch MVP Dinner to raise money for its adopted cause on Monday, October 9.
Each guest will take home sports memorabilia worth more than $50, and all profits from the dinner will go to support Sky Ranch for Boys. Tickets are $200 per person or $1,500 for a reserved table of eight and can be purchased at www.nightclub.com.
