JukesDirect Cuts Right to the Owner

What JukesDirect really brings to the industry is the ability of the locations themselves to purchase a downloadable jukebox,” says Simon Deith, who is in charge of sales and marketing for the company.
“Historically, the distributor would sell it to an operator, and the operator would go into the bar and put the jukebox in and revenue-share. In our model, the bar is able to purchase the jukebox directly from us and keep a much larger share of the income.”
After purchasing the jukebox, the bar owner keeps 70 percent of the unit’s revenue.
“You collect your own money, and then at the end of the month, we send you an e-mail that says your jukebox took in $1,000, and on the 10th of the month, we will debit your nominated checking account for $300.”

Picking and Choosing

Bar owners manage the music themselves online by adding and deleting music selections.
“You can block out certain music that you don’t want to listen to,” Deith says. “You might have a young and trendy place and not want them picking Frankie Valli.
“Albums, depending on the type of venue, will pop up on the screen, so you’ve got the instantly recognizable music choices that venue has selected as their sort of desktop,” he says. “If guests don’t see anything they like, there’s an alphabetical toolbar. They can move their finger across that toolbar and go onto ‘C.’ Up will come all the albums, and they can navigate the different albums. Or, there’s a keypad touch screen where they can punch in the name ‘Clarkson,’ and all the albums or singles by Kelly Clarkson will then come up.”
“It also has a very important feature called the Instant Download. If I’m there listening to Frank Sinatra, and you come up and want to listen to Kelly Clarkson, as an additional revenue-generating item for the location, they can put in $1, and their music selection will come up next, superseding any of the selections that have been paid for and scheduled to come up. That’s a very nice feature if you’re
just running in for a quick Vodka/Tonic and you want to listen to a quick track.”

Things That Make You Go Boom

The new Medallion jukebox from JukesDirect features SRS Wow HD, a patented feature not available on other jukeboxes. This element improves the audio performance of compressed and uncompressed audio by expanding the size of the audio image and creating a deep, rich bass response.

A Tight Little Bundle
Another way JukesDirect has established a point of difference is in its first impression: its appearance.
“We’ve taken this into the 21st century,” says Stephen Bennett, operations and distribution. “People are so used to flat-screen technology and high definition now, we’ve just gone straight down that line.”
Other attractive aspects of JukesDirect products are 24/7 phone and online support (www.jukesdirect.com) and a 5-year warranty to go with the 5-year location agreement.
Bennett describes the company’s offerings as being a “tight little bundle,” the aim of which is make things as easy for bar owners as possible. “We’ve really tried hard to make this a very easy exchange for the location owners to jump into the arena of owning their own downloadable jukebox,” Deith says.
